How do you handle stress or upsetting situations?

Whenever some sort of problem or crisis comes up I try to ground myself by asking one question: “Have I done everything I realistically can at this point in time?” If the answer is no, then I go ahead and try to figure out what I can do. But if the answer is yes, then there is no benefit to just stressing out about it and wearing myself out.

It’s very tempting to want to fix everything yourself. But acknowledging that sometimes you’ve done what you can and have to just let time handle the rest is something I have found very helpful to keep in mind. It’s not that I am no longer worried, but rather I want to be mentally rested for whenever I can next take action, if that time comes.

Gaming is probably my primary downtime hobby. Specifically anything that allows you to design. I love building things on both small and large scale in games. Whether that’s games like Minecraft or Animal Crossing or city builders, I can definitely get carried away and end up losing track of time.

I would let them speak, vent and explain everything and then I’ll tell them that
I’ll try my best to contribute in solving the said difficult situation. It often depends on exactly what I’m feeling, but it’s probably little surprise I often find drawing calms me down. When I’m feeling particularly low I just like to spend time with my pets; when they’re energetic it’s infectious and when they’re calm it soothes me. Something about appreciating the beauty of creatures just makes it very hard for me to not at least smile.
