If you could spread a message to the entire world, what would that message be?

I think a lot of people fall into nihilism about life so easily, understandably so. But I think one of the most amazing things about people is their ability to make their own happiness, even in small things. You don’t need some grand life goal to want to get up in the morning, maybe you just want to look at a cute bird. Maybe you just want to read a book in a park. So I guess my message would just be: You can always find good in the world.

What is something that most people don’t realize you struggle with?

I’d imagine some of my readers might be surprised to learn I struggle with chronic depression and OCD. Pretty much in any environment my OCD is making me hyper aware of things I fear. I’ve been told I give off a very calm presence which is always a surprise to me considering it feels like there’s always alarms going off in my head. I believe many people have a certain perception of what OCD looks like; hyper organization, obsession with specific numbers, etc. But OCD can express in many ways that are not nearly as recognizable, so people are often surprised to learn that mine is quite severe and disruptive in my life.

I’ve also been told that it’s a surprise I’m depressed considering my comics are so positive, though that’s exactly why they are! They definitely started out as a way to simply make myself smile. Goes to show that every person is quite complex, and can’t be defined by any one mood or feeling.
