What is something that most people don’t realize you struggle with?

I think most people I meet don’t realise I’m autistic. I’ve masked for most of my life, and even around my close family, I still feel the need to hide my stims and my breakdowns. And, unfortunately, I don’t want that to change.

If you could spread a message to the entire world, what would that message be?

You are enough for people to love you. You’re enough to be loved, and you are loved. Your needs shouldn’t be ignored because it might inconvenience people.

Who are some people you look up to? Why do you look up to them?

My friends! I’m not sorry for bringing them up so much, they have honestly been my lifeline through all this, and they don’t know half of it. All of them are amazing and talented artists and writers, and even if they have their own personal struggles, they’re always willing to help others. I can’t say how much I love them enough.

Say something comforting to the visitors that might make them feel a little less alone

We’re friends now. Do you want to watch a movie?

What is the hardest situation you have encountered?

The school situation I mentioned earlier is one of the hardest things I’ve gone through. But not only that, healing from childhood wounds is still a daily struggle, and while I don’t currently have much hopes overcoming that, I’m trying to keep my chin up.

Share an inspiring story with your audience about an obstacle you overcame or are overcoming.

September 2019, I started french high school (10th grade). Unfortunately, I was stuck with a horrible maths teacher that caused me a lot of panic attacks. I ended up avoiding going to school because of it. Fortunately, because of the pandemic, I could move on to 11th grade, but things only got worse there. I ended up not going to school at all after three weeks. But, thanks to my psychiatrist, I managed to get into a school specialised for kids who have not been able to go to a normal school because f mental health issues. I may be repeating this year, but I’m no longer fighting the urge to cry in class.

What things make you smile?

Seeing people’s tags on Friendly Reminder Frog always makes me smile. People tagging their friends, or saving it for when they don’t feel well. It reminds me that I’m doing something to make other people’s day better. Also, hearing people’s infodumps! I may not always understand what my friends are talking about, but hearing their smile, and how much it means to them is one of my favourite things.

What do you do for fun?

I’m an artist, and that takes up most of my time, drawing for myself, or for friends. Though I wish I could make this a full time job in the future, where I’m at right now is good too.

What hobbies or activities lift your mood when you’re feeling down or upset?

I’ve been drawing since I was a kid, and creating stories around them. Being able to think or research more about these worlds, or just imagining different interactions between characters, and talking about them with trusted friends can make me feel better. But when I don’t have the energy for personal stuff, I like to read books like George Sand, Fille du Siècle by Séverine Vidal, the Regeneration trilogy by Pat Barker, or catch up on webcomics like Freakshow and Hazy London by Crystal Jayme.

If someone came to you for advice on overcoming a difficult situation, what would you say?

I would first listen to them, and make sure they want advice or help from me, and not just vent their frustration out. I’d try to find a responsible person who can help them, and make sure they know that I’m available to listen to them, and if they don’t know what help they need, try to find resources and helpful tips.

Are there any specific places or types of places that help you feel better?

Places don’t mean as much to me as people. Friends I’ve had for years who can light up a room, that listen to my thousand ideas and provide critique, or who excitedly show me new shows, making sure I laugh at the right points. Those friends mean so much to me, and I don’t think I could ever put my feelings in the right words.

How do you handle stress or upsetting situations?

To be fair, I don’t handle stress and upsetting situation that well. But when I can suppress a panic attack, I tend to stim out the anxiety, or try to distract myself. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always work.

What is your favorite quote for getting through hard times? Why is this your favorite quote?

It may be long, but here it is:

“hey friends! i just wanted to remind you all that you are stunning, inside and out. your body gets you from place to place, allows you to create beautiful art, allows you to express yourself and your needs and wants. that in it of itself makes your body stunning. you being such a lovely person makes your body stunning because it houses such a fantastic person. i am so lucky to have access to such a loving and supportive community, and it is truly a pleasure to know all of you. i have made some of my closest pals here and i am so very grateful.”

My QPP sent it to a group chat we are in, and it meant a lot to me, both because of the person who said it, xe mean a lot to me, and the actual words in the quote. I need to remind myself that I am enough, and this quote helps me with that.
